However, flying squirrel species, which strongly depend on old mature forests, declined abundance due to the logging of forests. Guidelines for conservation been developed, but it is vital an accurate understanding their ecology revise guidelines be more effective. The Japanese (Pteromys momonga, JFS), endangered wide areas Japan, one species least ecological information available.
